There is a difference. Boy, ain't that the truth. Got into an argument with a part's changer guy who challenged me to be able to find out which cylinder wasn't firing without plugging in a computer reader. All the old time mechanics know what happened next - I pulled and reinstalled one plug wire at a time until the engine didn't change it's operation when the #6 wire was removed. There it is I said. He was dumbfounded that I could find it so easily. Trouble shooting is the hardest part of being a mechanic, but also the most rewarding IMHO.
