Seldom take less than 100 gallons in the C90; more on any trip. Can't believe I'd be less than a TBM ;)

No minimum with UVair or any of them. Ive taken as min as 30-40 gls.
Mine are charge accounts, I get an invoice at the end of the month and I pay by cheque.
I send an email to the 3 before my flights with a request for pricing for the airport I want fuel at. Then I send a fuel release to the cheaper of them.
No haggling this way. Its mostly always cheaper to pay the ramp fee and get the cheaper fuel from the Jet card co.
I would like to get some fuel pricing numbers from Colt or others to compare.

I get my fuel from the jet card company and still don't pay a ramp fee. Where does this happen to you?

If minimum is 100 gallons to avoid ramp fee, I buy 100 gallons with UVair and ramp fee is waived.

I dont see that in the US but a lot of FBOs in Canada wont waive ramp fees even if you take fuel or especially if you use fuel cards. Some examples I remember,
CYXU
CYTZ
CYCG
All airports in Central America, Honduras, Guatemala, Belize, I have been to you pay all ramp fees even when you take fuel.

The CAA fuel card is good if you frequent the fbo's in their network. You have to be a NBAA member and their is a annual fee, but two or three stops and you've paid for that. You pay with your on credit card or whatever, you just have have to show the CAA card at the fbo. Nice TBM also.

I friend mentioned that, but I could never directly compare. They didn't want to show numbers to a non-member. I wanted to understand before I purchased ;)

Flew 4 approaches today to just above minimums. Finally began having landings actually be more like a landing than a "controlled crash"! Buttonology still bites me in the ass from time to time.........but getting better. It's amazing how seamless the G1000 was in comparison!?! Biggest gotcha's, for me is with the autoplilot. You think you already set the altitude but hell you still have to "arm" it. Gonna take some getting used too. Last day for training tomorrow..............

Michael,

Your new airplane is beautiful and it sure sounds like you and your wife are having fun learning to fly it! Congratulations! As someone who is thinking of following your path may I encourage you to keep posting like Dave did when he bought his C90? Your experiences are really interesting and valuable to others.

One thing though…every new turbine owner discusses fuel costs, ramp fees, fuel cards, etc. Please stop doing this. This needs to be a dirty little secret that non kerosene burners learn after it is too late! Until we read these things we believe Jet A costs less...

You'd be surprised. There are plenty of instances where my costs are less than when I had my Bo.

Let's take Teterboro...... Gas is $5 a gallon and you get 3 free nights parking with a 100 gallon purchase. That's awesome. NYC is my new, cheap, go somewhere last minute for the wknd destination.

I almost never pay more than $25 a day to park and that's in nice places. Opa Locka in Miami has under $5 gas and free parking with purchase.

I don't think the FBO's really get you til you go "jet". Then it's $250 a night to park. :D

Michael,
Congratulations on the new plane. I have serial # 310 and had the same upgrade done at Avex. 300 hours in the last year and really like the plane. How is Walt on the G600?
Give me a call if you have any questions on the avionics. There are a few "tricks" but once you know them it's pretty easy.

Scott,

Walt is great on the G600. Hell......... he's great on everything. Did a bunch of procedure turns, non- standard holding patterns. I got a little frustrated today with all the buttons. I know what I want to do ......just a lot of fumbling to get there. The G1000 was so intuitive. This set- up with dual 750's and G 600 in some respects is easier than the G1000. But the integration, mostly with the autoplilot is more challenging. In reality, I'm pretty comfortable getting set up to do an approach and landing. In the training situation where you fly an approach, go missed then to an unpublished hold and then set up for another approach as well as coordinate things with Chicago approach my brain starts to melt-down. Much better landings today ........even gusting to 20! That made me feel a little better?!?

First REAL trip in 700AQ yesterday! Picked oldest up from Penn State for the 4th of July weekend. Ground speed 320 on the way out. Cells all around KUNV easy to navigate using the XM and radar. Very pleased with the plane so far............except at the gas pump!?!
We will take the kid back Sunday. Happy 4th of July to everyone. Fly safe!
