Hi Anthony,
I’m on my 4th 310, and I have to say that after having a G, Q, and R that the R model is the only 310 to buy. I have also bought two salvage 310’s, a Q and R. So I guess that makes six. My current airplane is a 1977 310R with the Bearcat conversion. These are the most desirable. The aircraft in question realistically will bring 350k. The asking price is high. Hopefully, the seller will come back to reality. I’ve owned 310’s for most of my adult life. Feel free to give me a call. I love to talk 310!

The R was made from 1975 until Cessna stopped in 1980. It had all the refinement. I think approximately 2100 ish examples made out of 5,000 ish total. The underwing exhaust is a huge plus, nose baggage, plenty of parts available, most produced model. I loved my Q model, once I got it dialed in, and probably never should’ve sold it, but if you are going to put six people in a 310, being able to put up to 350 lbs in the nose baggage to balance things out is a must. Both of my R’s had VG’s which gives you a 180 lb gross weight increase. Both have a 2,000 pound useful load. The interiors on these airplanes have more plastic than Beech products, but under the plastic, they are very well made. Many working 310’s go 20k hours. Of course, every airplane has its warts. If the landing gear is not maintained, you are going to have problems. It sits high, and going around corners fast causes stress in the structure that lead to cracks. That’s why the side brace kit was developed by Cessna. Early models (I believe 1966 and before) develop cracks in the structure are almost impossible to install this kit. R model, no problem, just expensive due to labor. Going forward, these R models will be old, but not as old as the others, calendar time has it’s effects on aircraft as well…
