Apparently using a turbine is not new and the Velocity was used in Reno Air races achieving 340 KIAS sea level. The Velocity Twin has had its Vne of 200 KIAS authorised for a higher operating ceiling, increasing from 18,000 feet to 25,000 feet. A search produces a rocket powered fixed gear version with a claimed top speed of 275 MPH. https://www.autoweek.com/news/a2072461/ ... st-public/The turbine version I pictured is designed to operate at 210 KIAS up to 27,000 feet, the design. Apparently the factory has never had a flutter problem, and the Vne on the Velocity Twin is a conservative estimate. The design for the turbine intake and exhaust was carried out by a Boeing engineer using Boeing CAD. A colleague is still working at Boscombe Down and will check what flight test program they would use, in the absence of wind tunnel testing. Am guessing the Velocity never undertook wind tunnel testing?

With all that being said, since speed is not limited I wonder if the weight gained by using IO 550s at 310 hp each would be worth the effort. I imagine 620 hp would push that guy right along at a nice clip.

They prefer unleaded fuel. Very interested to see how range and performance compares to the DeltaHawk twin velocity.

Seems a bit generous Not generous, it's a mistake. When I was at the factory in February, they were finishing up a six seat turboprop. I didn't see a six seat piston, but the hangar was pretty packed so I must have missed that one. My apologies for inconveniencing you.

With two engines and two alternators it seems like a thermal solution would work, but probably not enough demand to make it worthwhile. Two smaller alternators off electrical load, one additional each engine for aircon and deice. Now that they have more powerful turbocharged and turbine engines maybe a rework would be worthwhile for pressurization and deice. That would push a build assist towards the 7 figure mark, but may still be some buyers.
