It's an excellent video. Yes, it's hyperbolic with the "I'm smarter, and the plane's smarter" gimmick, but what a product.

Their interiors are works of art.

I'm also wondering if there's a product to fit the gap between the G6 and the Visionjet.

Used vision jets.

But is there a performance advantage over a G5? Did they do wind tunnel testing? Did they make the wing more efficient? Those were the things I hoped the video would detail.....

Whether anyone thinks these options are dumb..... at least Cirrus is innovating constantly. What options come on a new $1MM Bonanza? A 2005 G1000 and wooden floor boards?

Agreed. The bonanza has been effectively dead for a decade. As an Engineer, I'd, by a factor of about 10000, rather work for Cirrus making these cool, but rather useless, modifications. As an owner/pilot I'd rather own and fly a 1970's or 80's Bonanza with TN and Garmin panel modifications.

But let's not kid ourselves. These changes are not like other SR22 changes where they lightened the airplane. This is just marketing and window dressing. And the idea of having some moron pilot in a marketing video tell you that your plane is ready to go because you checked your phone is beyond irresponsible. That's what I mean by dumb.

What product fills the gap between a piston engine and a turbine engine?

The airlines?

The airlines?

Airlines are below a piston engine. I proved that years ago with my bonanza ownership.

Don't get me wrong, I love the Vision Jet. I just don't want the recurring type rating training obligation that goes with it. If I'm gonna obligate myself to that, I'm getting a used CJ.

Single engine pistons, faster, more capable and more comfortable than my 36, or SETPs, are the only planes I'd consider upgrading to.

Something like the Epic but made by, supported by, and continually improved by, Cirrus. Like the Mirage/Meridian, offered in piston and TP forms, but with a chute. Goodnight Piper (Mirage and Meridian). Nail in Bonanza coffin Textron. You're both done. But we appreciate your many years of dedicated service.

I think the market for such a plane from a manufacturer like Cirrus is bigger than existing sales volume suggests. Big enough to justify the investment? I don't know. But it'd instantly become the plane I'd want. For me.

Cirrus planes have a parachute. As cool as it would be for Cirrus to buy Epic I'd bet the whole thing would need to be redone from scratch to accommodate the chute.

A SETP is not in between a piston and a jet. The acquisition cost of a SETP is the same if not more than a jet.

If you were buying a new SEP, I don’t know why you wouldn’t buy a Cirrus. I’m not sure there will be any other companies in this segment except Diamond and Cirrus in 5 years.

And that 4 blade prop option looks sweet.

Just saw a SETP Lancair IVP for sale and it made me wonder there's room in the Cirrus product line for a 5-place pressurized SETP.

But if there's not enough room in the price range to shoe horn it in, it wouldn't make sense. I'm guessing it would have to run about $300-400K above the G6 in price. Probably can't get the engine an pressurization for that delta.

Nice airplane, but the video made me laugh. Who are they marketing to? With all the talk of color schemes and "How the airplane makes you feel", it has to be women, amirite?

Also, my Foreflight gives me many of those same alerts. Just sayin'...

Cirrus figured this out from the start. Dale Klapmeier told me first hand, Cessna and Beech have always built planes for pilots, but what killed many sales was the spouse. The first Cirrus SR had a big MFD because Dale's wife thought he was lost all the time, so he put a big MFD in it so she could tell him where he was and where to go. Alan K. had a mid-air collision in a tri-pacer with his wife on board, and the parachute was to make her comfortable.

Think about it, Who on BT would buy a car without a key fob to unlock the doors? And when do you think Textron will put that feature on a Beechcraft? It took Beech almost 30 years to fix the yoke on the Bo/Baron, and the Throttle quadrant on the Baron.

They are unapologetically selling a lifestyle, and it is working. It is good for them, and it is good for GA.

There’s a big quiet factory in Kerrville that could make that plane. Oh wait they did in the 80s and they plastered a PT6 on it in France.
