And even in its most basic trim, it is more feature loaded than 99% of the legacy fleet. If you don't load up on the options, the UL on the NA SR22 is 1330lb. That's full tanks and 4 FAA adults with 30lbs luggage each. Adding the known ice package reduces the payload to 4 adults and 15lbs each.
Now that UL is impressive but my F33A has a UL of 1328lbs and it looks a lot better, plus you can raise the gear and it costs a lot less.

I bet the key fob will cost $500. I think you are being wildly optimistic on how much it will cost to repair. I would add another zero. Cirrus is innovative. Looking at some of the planes at oshkosh, one was red and had seats that looked right out of an f430, another had lots of alcantara, reminded me of a gt3rs. But beech got a new air conditioner. Really? Would you buy that f430 if it had a body that looked like a Ford Focus

Gee wiz technology comes at too high of a price in certified GA. So, if you were a new airplane designer right now, instead of putting in gee wiz technology that customers want and are willing to pay for, what would you put in instead and how do you know the customers would buy it? Just curious.

You can compare a new cirrus to a g36 if you want. The cirrus flies higher, faster, has more useful load and the avionics are better.

Do they still deliver G36's NA and with the knob turning G1000? Is the warranty still void if you install the TN on the G36? LOLOLOL

Well I wouldn't wrap 1990s automotive technology and a fancy paint job around a 70 year old engine and call it innovative. I would at least want to tout reliability, lower cost of operation and safety, as this sells high end cars as much as looks. Since performance sells as well I would not pretend my airplane is substantially faster nor more usable than the average 60 year old air frame when it isn't. Cirrus is a fine product and their CAPS system is brilliant but a key fob and fancy interior isn't special enough to make me want to part with $700,000. This kind of reminds me of GM in the 1980s. The "new" model (same old crap GM car with 1960s frame, suspension and engine)would have a two tone paint job and ridiculous plastic spoiler with all kinds of vents and scoops. They would call it a "GTXI", and charge a few thousand more for it and call it a new upgrade. But it all was just the same old crap--but but but it was neeeew.

Seems like a lot of folks forget about the tax implications of buying a new airplane. While the sticker price may be $700,000, few people will ever shell out the entire $700,000 in cash. It will most likely be spread over 20 years and be a business expense. Then, after about 3-5 years, they will buy another one and get another tax deduction. The after tax actual cash outflow will be less than you think, it should help grow their business, they fly a new airplane, we get to read about all the new gadgets, and it is good for the economy.
