I don't know if it's going to be possible but my goal is to make my plane a 315kt normal cruise bird. The guys at RDD that are helping me with my final build have some new tricks they are trying out on a plane just before mine that in theory should help quite a bit but obviously won't know until put into practice.

Very nice and congratulations! You will have the joy of accomplishment when she is complete?

A friend of mine built one a few years ago. Very smart guy. Absolutely a stunning design. He did have a nose gear problem that ended his bird in my hangar for a few months.

Good luck with your build. Take more photos than you think you should. We want to see them!

Yeah, I have a ton of pics. A lot of them are redundant.

That looks like a bad problem to have. Can't imagine his prop was too effective all twisted like that, lol.

Here are more pics from today. We pulled the wings from the jigs and prepped the leading edges. Then put a couple layers of a very small tight weave carbon fiber over the bonding edge.

Also the horizontal was prepped the same way.

Gerry that looks like a ton of fun. What a joy to build your own bird, especially with expert oversight. The specs on that machine are great. I sat in one at Oshkosh a couple years ago - very nice.

Congrats and keep us all updated on your progress.

You're all absolutely welcome. I'm enjoying it very much. It will be nice to know exactly what all my systems look like and if there are any issues down the road be able to have an idea what the issue could be caused by.

That and it's just really cool to do and see!

More from today. Installed the wings and the horizontal. Also cut out the trim tab.

That carbon fiber look is cool. Can it be left unpainted, just a clearcoat? I know the early Cirri were required to be almost all white, over time they're allowing darker colors over more of it, does the same apply to carbon?

It would yellow over time. RDD has painted a carbon fiber look. It's pretty good.

Gerry, are you building it at RDM? I saw RDD and assumed Redding. Then I saw pictures that looked like Lancairs facility at Redmond. I live about 8 miles from RDM and have followed Lancairs progression for many years.

This part of the build is being done in the Lancair facility in Redmond. RDD is just across the street. Actually they are located basically in the airport in Redmond. I finished my end of the build in Lancair and RDD will take the plane to their facility sometime next week I believe.

I'll post more photos of my build later, right now I'm going to relax, lol.

Ah, I understand my confusion. I'll follow your progress with particular interest as I look out on Rwy 22 at RDM, as viewed from my living room window.

Best of luck. I hope you move through the remainder of the buildout faster than you expect.
