JC is right about the Evolution....they will have to bury you in it. yes they will. but you'll be doing 320kts... and smiling too.

Dave,
We have only had the TBM since July........so no annual yet. No surprises maintenance wise yet. So far cost have been fuel, insurance, maintenance, hangar etc. Fuel burns about 50 gal hour. I could get you more specific info if you need it. So far........plane has been a game changer for us.

Prat wants money to do anything with a PT6A-6x series big block. My cost per hour for HSI and OH on my TWO engines is less than for the ONE on the TBM. Mike C.

Mike,
Yea....... I'm not looking forward to overhaul. I've heard estimates from 250k to 350k?!? That would hurt. Love the plane. Just flew nonstop from Bozeman (KBZN) to Kankakee (KIKK) non stop in 3:18. That's about 1063 miles. Used about 180 gals of fuel. Landed with 100 gals left. Had 4 big guys, full fuel and bags. Low ceilings, ice, 25 knot crosswinds.......plane performed flawlessly.

I've seen costs run as high as $500K in real life. One example, a Cheyenne III with two PT6A-61 engines (very similar to -66D on TBM, same size, power, RPM, etc) ran $525K *EACH* for overhaul for 3,500 TBO. Both were second run engines (one prior overhaul) so that affects the numbers to some extent. The quoted base price was $265K (not including R and R), which might as well be fiction. I personally would budget $400K for a PT6A-66D overhaul. Works out to $115/hour. If you come in under $350K, that is probably the best one can do. Mike C.
