I do live very close to Oshkosh. It's just a short jump to the south side of lake Michigan. Gerry, now i have something you don't have- but could enjoy! http://i.imgur.com/Hz18lD1.jpgGetting it mounted and hooked to my G3X by end of month That does look like it would be fun to have.

How about a walk around video much like Todd S. has done with some of his planes for sale? That, along with some inflight video, would be awesome. Yeah, I can do that. I'll post it to youtube and give a link here.

We sold it to Bill Elliott, I was only the delivery, working the radios, we stopped in Meridian Mississippi for gas, when we switched over to tower they said "N3644Y, what kind of Lancair ARE YOU? AND can you maybe slow that thing down a little bit?" I said "Sure, what would you like?" "Can you give me 200 for now? I've got a Beechjet ahead of you!" "You betcha" Made my day! Haha, yeah there have already been some fun commentary by ATC on the few flights I've had. When we were flying in to Boca earlier in the week the controller said "69A are you a jet?" Made my day, lol. The 4P's are great airplanes and fast as well. RDD is doing a REALLY cool conversion for the 4P to make them a LOT safer while maintaining speed and making them as insurable as a Columbia. It's really a great idea that they are doing. They call it the LX7 conversion.

I did ask the Lancair rep about the -42 and he gave me the standard line about it not working with their Garmin suite. It's too bad they're taking that position when the -42 seems like a better choice. Yes, I'm not sure why they are so against selling kits, which is what they are supposed to be about instead of selling false information and driving customers away, which I know they have done. Either way, it's a fantastic airplane and I'm glad I bought one. The G3X is the way to go anyway so the fact they say the -42 doesn't work with the 900X wouldn't concern me one bit if I were to do it all over again. Thanks for the compliments! I really am happy with the way it's turned out. Looks like we are going wheels up tomorrow morning. I'm missing the family and I'm ready to see my boys and wife.

I've been following this with rapt attention, someday... maybe a Legacy first while i save up. Actually, I've been reading about your journey since you had that thread on the Rocket Bonanza. All very interesting stuff and thanks for being so open about sharing your experiences. Regarding Lancair's devotion to the -135 and G900x, I've been assuming that it has to do with pricing/volume agreements that Lancair has with P&W and/or with Garmin. For instance, they get a certain price from the suppliers assuming the -135 and/or G900x is the exclusive engine/avionics package. Could even extend to insurance agreements they made years ago involving consistency across the fleet. I've been assuming their seemingly irrational devotion to the engine and panel are due to past contracts to which they are beholden (rather than the market, engineering, etc.), but perhaps I'm wrong (ask my wife, it's happened at least once before). Gerry - have you heard anything about whether some sort of exclusivity contract is their motivation?

1. Did you stand by the plane and when anyone came up to look, said, "Yes, that's my plane"? 2. I notice they had it pretty close to the Daher tent with the TBM. 3. Who is that getting into your plane as you're filming? 4. What is the cockpit mockup in front of your plane? Looks very similar to the Lancair but a trapezoidal back window instead of an oval one. And oh yeah, suhweeeeeet ride.
