That's assuming he was aiming for the corn field.

So that is what? The second emergency landing of this craft? Are you counting the first flight which had to land on an intersecting runway before making half a circuit around the field? If so, I think that makes three, but I may have missed one or two.

Is there a 90 day requirement on emergency landings?

https://www.homebuiltairplanes.com/foru ... ost-610458Quote: After investigation it turns out that the stake washer that locks the stake nut on the prop shaft failed. 40 hours of flying time ago I reassembled that using unused tabs on the washer and it had no play. I'm guessing it was just a poor design and as I said we're not using it going forward. Once the nut came loose the play in the shaft allowed the belts to jump on the pulleys and that was game over. googled 'stake washer' no hits this worked https://www.google.com/search?client=fi ... =stake+nutDetails woulda been nice, was that the prior setup used to that point & worked ok? Torqued down #??

It’s in one of his old videos, but iirc the washer was a cut with tabs and he folded one up, or something. Sounds like he reused the washer and just folded a different tab up.

Boat prop hardware (I/O and OB) use a tabbed washer that's formed to the shape of the nut along with a casting that's splined to the shaft. The casting has multiple "notches" that you bend a couple tabs of the shaped washer into. That's very secure even if it's a bit loose, and far more robust than just bending a tab on a keyed washer alongside the flat of a nut.

High IQ and low EQ.

I am with Stuart. This is insanity by any measure.

Attachment: raptor.jpg [/quote] Are you kidding me? A fire extinguisher next to a loose wheel. Definitely poetry not in motion. An ominous omen.
