That is almost equivalent to an old Seneca on one engine!

Isn't that a pretty accurate comparison with respect to weight and power?

Not sure that should really be in green...

Sadly, that was groundspeed, not TAS...he picked up 20mph when he turned SW, then lost it when he turned back NE.

Seems like he's a pretty consistent 125-130kts at that ???% power setting.

When he was in Valdosta his initial ROC was 600-700 fpm for the first minute or two. Today the data only showed one hit of 500 fpm. Everything else was lower. Clearing the airport perimeter fence at a 4000’ MSL airport should be pretty exciting.

Has it flown higher than an actual raptor?

Looks like he took it to his actual home. Maybe that's where he keeps the sawzall.

So, there’s a new video up. If I understand correctly, PM plans to fly the his creation to KTWF. In the last 24 hours, the DA at KTWF never dropped below 5000 feet. Raptor can’t produce a triple digit climb rate at 4000 feet. I guess that is THE destination, so if he makes it there, he won’t need to take-off again. Everything should work out OK, then.

"Almost made the plane"?

I think this is the 3rd turboprop Velocity that's been made. Performance is a bit disappointing. But at least he'll be able to go higher than a piston engine.

I got 199kts, 13.5GPH @ 8,000' with 90 gallon tanks.

Well, what do I know.

Yours is faster than the turbine one, which is only 260 HP. Looks slick like all the rest of them.

Don,

I think he means the raptor already almost exists. It is called a Velocity. It is better by geometric margins.

Can you start a velocity thread. I am intrigued by them.

Can they be deiced? Is the Canard really greatly effected by rain? How much baggage is there?

The larger question is "can they be pressurized", and the answer there is "not without some serious re-engineering". That said, it would make something close to what the Raptor was claiming to be.

No problem. It's so slow, with such short range, that by the time he gets there it will be winter.

Raptor can’t be pressurized “without some serious re-engineering”. By that one metric Raptor and Velocity are equals.
