Tim,
Strap some Williams engines on that Aerostar. You will not be disappointed.

They are still working with the FAA find a way to certify it. I have not asked for progress on it since it is outside my price range. Oh, I am pretty sure it is Rolls Royce engines. Tim

They had an article in the aopa turbine section. I believe it is the Mustang powerplant including the controls. The economics make no sense. At the numbers they are talking about, you might as well buy the Mustang. Nice idea to honor Ted Smiths original concept.

Eclipse, had not for those serious issues, would be a solid company today. Sure it's Eclipse's fault. They made promises based on vapor ware, betting on the come. Results were predictable and predicted.

Tim I got 10 minutes at the controls of the Aerostar Jet at that convention

This is what Eclipse should have built.

Ehhhh... they raised capital to build an airplane. Along the way there were issues that impacted the business plan and schedule, and then ran out of money for reasons mentioned above. Was the Learjet vapor ware at some point? Was the Cirrus Jet vapor ware (they almost went under because of it)? They both succeeded, unfortunately, Eclipse did not.

Was the Cirrus Jet vapor ware (they almost went under because of it)? They both succeeded, unfortunately, Eclipse did not. Did original Eclipse start out as a scam? No, but it quickly became one. They took deposits on the 400, a plane they knew from day 1 would be impossible to certify. The contract said the deposits were to be held by third party escrow, but Eclipse took the $ and spent it on other things completely unrelated to the 400. The contract said you could get a 100% refund before a certain date, but Eclipse wouldn't answer the phones or return calls for people wanting their $ back. Don't act like they were above board and would have succeeded if not for a couple third party vendors not delivering on promises ....
