like someone said, the sonex jet is the only thing I'd calla "personal jet". Personal as in, I'm the only one who will fit in it. Beyond that definition anything can be a personal jet.

Didn't the sultan of Brunei recently buy an Airbus A380 ? Well, there you go. It's his personal jet.

One milestone achieved: FJ33-5A has its TC:

http://www.flyingmag.com/faa-certifies- ... a-turbofan

2000 lbs of thrust? I don't understand why the SF50 needs so much thrust, and yet still manages a relatively weak 2000 FPM climb.

"All FJ33-5A owners are enrolled in the company’s Total Assurance Program (TAP Blue)"

Just how many "owners" are there of FJ33-5A?

From a Cirrus blog post announcing the engine TC:

"We will soon begin our function & reliability testing where our pilots will run approximately 300 hours on the Type Design aircraft."

They haven't even started F&R testing yet.

Certification by end of the year? I would not bet on it...

Plan I received 18 months ago was to build 95 planes this year. Only a month ago did they celebrate flying SN #1.

Mike:

Again I have insight you are not privy to, insider trading in a very narrow scope. Care to place a wager ? My component level function and reliability was completed 2 yrs ago.

Per Order 8110.4 2-6w

Applicants for aircraft TCs must make all flight tests that the Administrator finds necessary
This determines whether there is reasonable assurance the aircraft, its components, and equipment are reliable and function properly
.

approx. 300 hrs on type design aircraft per the news release -

3 Conforming Prototypes
1 Production Test Article

4 aircraft flying

These are confirmation flights of submitted flight test reports - i.e. Let's check the results of X Stall test, Y stability test and a component Z failure.

approx. 7 weeks to OSHkosh 20hrs of flight time per week x 4 AIrcraft X 7 wks = 560 hrs

Yes that's a tight schedule

Full (not provisional) TC by 2016 Oshkosh is dreaming.

Something 1Q2017 would be the earliest I would expect.

Full capability without limitations (say FIKI) may take some time more, too.

I wondered about that. I read it as "engine program is mandatory / included". Couldn't find any other reference to it in the context of the FJ33-5A, though.

I wonder what the program will cost.

Never been a jet engine on a single before, and the SF50 is essentially the only FJ33 user, so it will be interesting to see what the costs will be.

What's the hold up? Isn't this this V tail for the 21st century?

I did see one at KBIS within the last two weeks. Must still be "experimental"?

http://flightaware.com/live/flight/N252CV/history/20160909/1756Z/KBIS/KDLH

Also, by searching the FAA, it appears SN#6 was assigned an N number N9ZN.

Someone started a new thread on this already, but....

Quote:
Cirrus announced Sunday that its Cirrus SF50 personal jet has been type-certified and that deliveries will begin in December. The company made the announcement at a function two days before the National Business Aviation Association Convention in Orlando, Florida.

Now, when will the first delivery holders sell it for an 80% loss in a year because it is such a bad design. I mean a single engine jet is so inefficient. It cannot go high.....

Are we really doing this again?

Want a jet that can go high? Buy an M2 or Eclipse for 2X the price.

Pilatus, TBM, Meridien all cruise in the 20s.
