But I don’t have economic justification for that kind of travel expenditure. At least not yet. In my book, at least initially, it will be hauling 3-4 employees and what they can produce given new markets and additional time. The CJ2 can do that for me. Any others a bit overboard (right now). Jets do open new markets for some of us.

I haven't seen one that'll do a CJ type in 4 days but I have seen 7 or 10. Yes, I agree the CJ is shorter than other type ratings.
But that still leaves having to fly all arrival and departure procedures. Being committed to using only the long runway and probably not always landing at the airport closest to your destination. I count "door to door" time.... not "flight time".

It really blows my mind what some of you spend on flying but more power to you. I often wonder what some of you do to afford that lifestyle. I actually do quite well at what I do but some on here are doing way better. “I have everything I need and about everything I want, so life is good “

[/quote] Ain't that the truth. Flying those things is no fun, especially in a bug smasher going 140. I pretty much quit flying IFR unless I absolutely have to because of how much extra time it costs. It’s amazing how many pro pilots I have flown with who couldn’t navigate VFR if they had to.

Nothing wrong with cancelling IFR once ATC gets you below 18,000 and gets you on a STAR if VMC. I often do that and proceed direct the airport with advisories.

Quote: It’s amazing how many pro pilots I have flown with who couldn’t navigate VFR if they had to. I admit to not flying VFR, or rather basically always on a clearance for the last roughly 30 years, except gliders, and towing gliders a while back, but flying VFR takes very different planning procedures than IFR. I would not care to just up and cancel, without some thought to it in advance. I was always afraid a TFR might jump up and bite me. Flight following covers some of that, but it is all on you in the end. It may be slightly different if I was in my own plane, someone else's, with them on board, I like to use all the tools including ATC. In an earlier life, I did manage to fly at least 4300+ hours VFR.. (it's hard to kill corn earworms on a clearance) I don't know why I took this personally...

Flew a HJ left seat from KPHX to KADS today. Very Honda like. Comfy, simple, reliable with few surprises except the non-flare to land (just consider arresting some of the sink rate and call it good).
We zipped right up to FL430 (light and cold) and made about 385ktas at 640pph. Great HVAC and of course the G3000 is full of toys.
Again like most anything Honda.. not much to dislike. (you already knew you didn’t buy a GT3RS).
Pretty impressive. Highs: great Seats, quiet, AC, thoughtfulness of design.
