12,000 for American, 2,000 for a freight dog, 1000 for a commuter. And 4000 for myself. I’m pretty versed on both sides of the fence

So the 2000 was as a working single pilot?

I find comparing major airlines, or many regional to most 135/91 doesn’t really work with the differences in support and having almost everything done for you

I also owned a small air taxi for 4 years out of Dallas Love Field in the early 80s.

Had some damage to the intake blades on one of my Williams engines.

Williams paid for techs to fly out, repair the damage and Boro the hot section. Didn’t cost me a thing. If that was a P&W I would have got a big bill.

I personally love the insurance of the Williams engine program.

Mike

It comes at a price of nearly $2M for a pair of engines over one overhaul period (5000 hours).

And it requires letting Williams set the terms of your deal every 5 years, and they saying what the terms mean. You have no choice in the matter.

There are pros and cons.

It isn't clear to me what the PW bill would have been for the same work. Anything that could have been done on site without removal can't be that expensive.

Insurance isn’t free. The engine program allows the operator to bank money to cover scheduled engine events and acts as insurance to cover unscheduled events.

The only way that you’ve been able to make a persuasive case against an engine program is to compare program engines to operating past TBO which isn’t a fair comparison.

As I’ve said before, yes Williams is a dictator, but they are a benevolent dictator.

As an owner pilot, I have come to realize that hiring a full-time pilot has provided me with more time to focus on my business and family. The ownership of any turbine aircraft requires numerous updates, maintenance, and management tasks, which can quickly add up and become time-consuming. While I enjoy managing these aspects of aircraft ownership, I also recognize that my time is better spent operating the business.

Having a hired pilot has allowed me to delegate these responsibilities while also keeping the plane in top condition and still have a life. We are both single pilot certified and insurance qualified which gives a lot of flexibility, but we have a contract SIC trained to assist us during higher risk flights if we cannot fly together. We fly about 50% of our flights single pilot.

Re: Williams TapBlue. Williams pays for all engine inspections, oil changes, labor, shipping for parts, and FOD damage. I have been extremely satisfied with the level of support and service provided by Williams, and I have heard of few dissatisfied customers. Williams is a privately-owned company and appreciate the presence of owner and CEO Gregg Williams interacting with his customers at many of the big aviation events.
