Didn't do as well on that as I would have liked. Studied for the part 135 and when I got to the test facility, all they had was 121. So, I missed a lot of questions on areas like computing CG and setting trim on planes I'll probably not fly, but I'm going to go ahead and study those areas so I'm not deficient on the oral exam. DPE says to plan on four hours. Two oral and just over one flying, allowing time for pre-flight, actual flying, post flight and brief afterwards. Instructor says he's going to be much harder on me this week to get me ready. Back to the books now! Good luck Luck Dave! You sound mentally up to the challenge. I'll probably never go through that bit it's fun to watch you and my boss Mark go through it. If he says it's hard, then I believe it's hard! Your math sounds logical on the CJ versus KA

I haven't looked into leasing, but recently owned an MU2. What kind of terms are out there? Specifically, can you lease a Citation and only fly it 50 hrs / year? I see where you're leasing your friend's II, but in leasing the V, do you have monthly/annual minimums? Is the plane dedicated to you and therefore available 24/7/365?
Thanks,
Jay Garnett Jay: I'm lucky to be in a large area like this. There are several lease opportunities here. I can lease by the hour, but risk not having the plane on short notice. I can usually plan my monthly trips in advance, so, it can work for me. I also have to have a co-pilot approved by the insurer for the V. On the II, my friend would like to know I'll fly it 50 hours a year. That's all he's flying it and the lease to me will lower his cost to maintain. We'll see how that works out. There are also a couple for sale here that have been on the market awhile. I may have an opportunity to lease those or become a partner. The group that has the V I'm flying also has an Ultra and Premier. Of course, the Premier would require a different type rating. Hope that helps.
