You can repaint a CJ3 for 50K-75K and redo the interior for about the same price.
The 4 color metallic may be adding to the cost.

But there have a been a lot of sales at the end of the year. I called every plane on Controller and all are "phantom" listings. There's almost no availability.

4 color metallic paint. Redoing the whole interior to factory standard. Redo the cockpit interior. Refinish the cabinetry and all metal hardware. New seatbelts. This quote is a lot more than what I thought it would be. That may be a little high but it is in the ballpark unfortunately. For the class of plane you have don’t go cheap. You would regret it.

I bet it’s the furniture. For some reason those cost an arm and a leg to do. You do have a bunch of seats! It will be a great time to have your toilet PTT switch revamped!
Also, each color you add, adds cost. It’s the masking of the plane in between colors that essentially makes it four paint jobs.

Like re-laminating the cabinetry. Building the seats with new foam instead of re-using old. Re-finishing all thew metal work. Re-doing the cockpit seats and leather trim like the glare shield etc. Re-doing all the headliner and walls etc. In speaking with the shop there is definitely a lot of stuff I can cut back on.

If I do it I'm going whole hog and getting it how I want it. The question is.... I can order a 2019 PC12NG with the paint and interior I want. I would also have a new plane, 5 blade prop, Synthetic Vis, Warranty etc. Trade mine plus $2MM. Or, if I do paint and interior, 5 blade prop, Synth vis and bring all MX up to date I figure I'll spend about $460K. Of course I don't have to do everything. Not doing Synthetic viz and 5 blade prop saves close to $200K of that.

Don't the tax implications for a new plane reduce that $2M difference significantly or is it a wash when you recapture tax selling/trading the old one?

I see your dilemma. Brand new isn't that much more in the grand scheme of things. If only there were ANY performance improvements....
Why haven't they offered a more powerful PT6 for the PC12? There's a 2000Hp version out there. Imagine that on your plane. 300kts plus? More? It would certainly be a no brainer for the jet upgrade questions then.
