Nobody buys engine programs for a PC12. You just run them.

I thought programs were pretty much par for the course in the turbine world? What's different about PC12 ownership?

I don't think the TBM or Merdien guys do it either. Don't think the KA guys do either.

If an engine program were $150 and hour and I have 1750 hours on mine that's $262K I have in the bank.

I'd buy a jet that wasn't on a program and run it. But if I bought one already on a program I'd keep it up.

when I had my turboprop I was not on any program either. With the PT6's and TPE's an operator has options for where to go for engine maint or overhauls. It's not like the Williams program where you are at their mercy regardless if on program or not.

What does the book say the pc12 will do at 6500'? Just curious.

Don't remember. That's just what I had last winter when I flew out at 6500'.

This month's Flying mag also has an interesting article by Dick Karl on jet ownership. Dick sold his Piper Cheyenne and bought a Premier I.

There were numerous expensive problems, and eventually hit a buzzard that did serious un-repairable damage to the wing spar that the plane was totaled.

I researched the Premier. Sell my Pilatus, pocket $1.5MM and buy a Premier.

Now the bad part.... 18 days at FSI in Wichita then a year of flying with a mentor pilot..... for a 2.5 hour airplane with a 370 pound full fuel payload. It's a complete waste of time. A Premier Type Rating doesn't lead to anything else.

I think the Prm1 is a great buy for what it is. Modern Single pilot jet for 1M-1.5M,
The training is what it is.. Trade offs.
1 reason I sold the C421.. The insurance and training . I wasn't flying enough to justify. The B36TC has no training and 1/2 the insurance.

C421 is not that much faster than B36Tc But did love that cabin

About 246TAS @ 576PPH

Also, Pilatus publishes a free iOS APP to get all of the PC12 performance data that anyone can use.

...and, as we found out earlier this year, that app will kill you if you believe it.

I think Pilatus has fixed it by now. It gave 400-500ft too short runway requirements under certain conditions.

ALWAYS read the AFM.

$268K for paint and interior.

4 color metallic paint. Redoing the whole interior to factory standard. Redo the cockpit interior. Refinish the cabinetry and all metal hardware. New seatbelts. This quote is a lot more than what I thought it would be.

Yeah, I don't get it. One could do about 9 Twin Cessnas for that price...

I know the Pilatus is big, but it's not THAT big.

That was my first quote. Trying to figure out what it's so high.
