Just long enough to get the hours for the CJ2.

The TKS panels are much larger and go back further on the wing. I would not trade my Glasair for a non-FIKI Cirrus just to gain the parachute, but sure would consider the FIKI machine to get the parachute and the de-ice that works properly. Ice is my biggest concern in the Glasair - even more so than one engine. Efficient high performance wings like the Glasair and Cirrus do not like ice. I have picked up moderate ice in FL at 8k when it was 60 degrees on the ground. Where I live it really is a concern. It really is an amazing system. On my plane the only place I get ice accumulation is on the front of the wheel pants, very edge of the wing tips, the whip antennae on the vertical stabilizer (which eventually breaks off) and a little on the spinner. This is true even in moderate icing. It's a great confidence builder that you'll have an escape mechanism is you get into it inadvertently. Or if you will be climbing or descending through a shallow layer. Worth the money and the weight IMO.

Actually Shawn I fly my G5 with two females about 120lbs each and my 80lbs daughter in the middle all the time and they are very comfortable and all of there backs are against the seats! The rear seats recline in many positions and I have friends that prefer the back on long XC trips.. I can fill to the tabs take my party of 5 with bags and do 350 NM trips very comfortable..

I flew from 9V9 to PWA (500NM) nonstop Sunday with fuel to tabs and had 16 gallons on landing. I did have a tailwind of about 15 knots average. But I just pulled the power back until the range ring was 100 miles past my destination, slowed down and sped up.
