There is/was a flying prototype of this one and yet the world still waits for production.... Here's their website, you will see from the dates how long this has been going on! http://www.wingco.com/

Yep,
The Moller 2000. Supposed to be one in every garage for $40k. Why even talk about pie-in-the-sky stuff? You will never see a 285 knot pressurized plane on 7 GPH with one seat, let alone 4-6. The aerodynamics do not allow for any design get that kind of efficiency.

"Don't have a pilot's license? No problem. We will fly your completed Raptor to your nearest airport and then provide an instructor that will take you through your private training and instrument if you require that also (required for flight about FL180). Given that you now have a shiny new Raptor you will just be paying for fuel and the instructor. For most people this will be about 50 hours or about $3500. After that you will take your test (about a $400 fee) and you will then be free to fly." And I thought Cirrus marketing was bad. This Raptor is a joke.

If they told me the thing would do 230 on 25 GPh air conditioned and pressurized I would trade in my duke. And could show me one of course. Why even put out unattanium.

Yeah...I hear dem takin about planes with jet injuns and fancy space based navegation. Some fool even talked about planes without pilots flown by some kinda fancy reemote cuntrol from the ground. I also heard crazy talk about women becoming pilots and flying men to da moon. The best one was a plane made out of plastic.... What kind of fools would buy into that crazy talk???

By way of comparison, the VW Jetta's 1.9 liter turbo diesel produces 100 hp at 4,000 rpm running an 18.5:1 compression ratio. However, you can get the VW engine new for less than $10,000. The Jetta's engine price has nothing to do with it's power output. It's pure economics of scale. I bet if Continental could push several million engines out the door every year we wouldn't be looking at $35k price tag on IO-520 either.

The best one was a plane made out of plastic.... What kind of fools would buy into that crazy talk??? Back in the Wright Brothers' day, technology had been, by modern standards, slow moving. People didn't understand the technology and assumed that it would progress in a slow steady fashion like it always had. Now, we have livedthrough many years of accelerating technology. People still don't understand the technology and assume it will continue to accelerate as it has recently. Truth is, technology goes by fits and starts and is bounded by physical reality. If we fail to understand the basic science behind the technology, we will constantly be either disappointed or surprised by the advances or lack thereof that occur. I'm not criticising Raptor for trying to push the envelope; I'm criticising them for using bad science.

I love the concept of using the hype word "hybrid" in aviation. All aircraft are already hybrid. We "regenerate" energy on descent without any fancy technologies.
