In contrast, I knew one Navy guy on a USAF F4 exchange tour who told me after a utility failure he was interviewed right up the chain to the Wing Commander and the next day he was the top priority on the flight schedule because they didn't want him to be rattled by this unusual event! He and I both laughed over that one but I got to thinking we Navy types could learn from that kind of uncompromising attitude toward the little gripes we just took for granted.

Those days are long gone in the USAF, we rarely fly jets that have full-up systems, stuff is always broke!

That is true. EVERY Viper at Hill flew with some sub-system problem or inop. Not due to MX and the guys on the line, but due to part availability.

This is why I laugh at (and skip) every advertised airplane that says, "squawk free aircraft," or, "no deferred mx items." In my experience... There is no such thing, and any owner unaware of that fact is not paying attention, or...

When my son was doing pilot training in the USAF, I got to attend a briefing by the trainees. I was so proud of all of them I got tears in my eyes.. Just stand at Walmart for 10 minutes and compare it to our military and you would think there were two completely different species.

They are.

Well, Not too sure about that. I went up there last year to help prep them for their ORI and was kind of amazed at what I found. They were completely top heavy with not enough worker bees.

Glad to hear that Bill, when I left 3 years ago it was bad.

BTW they failed the ORI three years ago for MX. You might have been there helping them recover subsequent to my time?

Yep,
Went in after that fail to try and help. I found more chiefs than indians and made my recommendations. Don't know if they listened.
