Doug, what is your thoughts on the Legacy?

I have only ever been in the IV but the legacy is next to try as a mate in Sydney has just finished the most immaculate one I have ever seen. He flies jets for a living so might be more suited to slippery, but not so much snappy.

Your thoughts?

I have not flown the Legacy. My sense is that it is a better airplane. It has a more appropriately sized tail, and a better safety record. I know people who have flown them and likes them. Even in my Rocket, my speeds below 10K ft are similar to a turbine or a Jet, and in the IFR environment, things happen much more quickly than in a Baron or a Bo.

The secret is, if you get behind the airplane, slow down, and ask for help.

All of these slippery little homebuilts with light control forces are much more difficult to stay ahead of than a Beechcraft. I can cross the Outer Marker in my Rocket at 190 KIAS and land on the fixed distance markers, and if the ceilings are up around 6-800 ft, and I do that, but if you get behind the airplane, things go haywire in a hurry.

The Legacy and Evolution are leaps and bounds better than the earlier Lancairs in terms of handling qualities and behavior.
