There are countless examples of "established" companies sitting on their laurels while an upstart moved in and completely dominated a developing market. Seriously, how did AT&T sit on the sidelines while the cell phone industry became the next market phenom or IBM miss the PC. You just have to wonder. Cessna, Beech, Mooney and Piper sat on their ass while two nobody upstarts completely redesigned the light piston aircraft market?
I had numerous friends and relative who sat on their bank and "old" tech stocks that skyrocketed during the early 2000's refusing to believe that the top had been reached, refusing to sell, hoping only that the present would continue into the future in finitum. Today they have lost 80 to 90% of their investment. My uncle sat on 1.5 million of Lucent until it was worth about $20m.
Sad as hell, but a lot to be learned. Just wish I weren't so old that I will probably never be able to use the wisdom.

Just imagine if Beechcraft had the vision I'm sorry, but while Beechcraft build fine planes, they got their behides handed to them by Cirrus.

Jgreen I don't think it's just that: HBC got raided by the MBA's of GS which have no incentive to do anything in aviation; just suck the money out of the organization. IIRC Cirrus is supposed to be using the new FADEC IO-550 as well as Beech. Seems like a small announcement that perhaps has already been made though. I vote: JET

Seems like the majority is voting for a jet announcement. I wonder what jet related news could warrant their headline "announcing the next leap forward" I mean, wasn't the jet already announced? We've known about that for a couple of years now, minimum. Hell, they've already got a ton of stuff up there on their website: http://cirrusaircraft.com/vision/ regarding the Vision SF50 jet. Sure isn't going to be news that the jet is certified. So what? Will they announce that they're going to move forward on a project they announced 3 years ago? Hardly seems worthy any hype to me. My guess is that it's something else. We'll just have to wait 4 more days to be disappointed I guess
