Does this mean formation flying is also crazy?
His energy state was such that with an engine failure he could have easily alighted on the water.
I am just saying that even though you don't recognize it you live in a glass house and should be more hesitant about throwing rocks.

really? so if you have a bonanza I assume you fly everywhere 3ft off the ground doing 170kt, right? I mean why not, it's not dangerous at all since you're carrying so much energy. What if there was a downdraft, a bump, whatever. If he clipped that wing, what would have happened? As someone else said, at night you have time to glide and think about your best alternative... you don't have that opportunity when you're 3ft off the ground and you clip something.

Wow, stop the car Dude... Sounds good to me, and I certainly was not throwing rocks.  I guess I took your statement more seriously then you meant it. I didn't realize you were speaking tongue-in-cheek when you said. Interesting what you say about a downdraft etc.
There is another thread here where a member has posted videos of his short field landings in a very low energy state. A sudden downdraft or change in windspeed/direction would be disastrous for him yet you have not jumped on his case.
But I digress, I don't think there was anything more risky in what the icon pilot was doing than I have seen elsewhere in BeechtalkLand.
