I hope you're wrong! They had a nice display at Oshkosh.

Honda does have a history of cutting promising programs when the economy tanks, in recent years they cancelled:

1. Formula 1 program (really bad move as their car won the championship the following year)

2. NSX successor program (which was well into its development having already tested at Nurburgring)

HondaJet specs.

Climb: 1100FPM

Full fuel payload: 1 pilot

Range with 4 on board: 8 miles

It's a totally lame airplane. I don't know why anyone would buy one.

Then again the F-16 is a single engine jet

Yeah, but F-16 comes with an ejection seat.

Maybe if they put BRS on it...

Fo' real?

So much for the "they're Japanese so they know better and they're gonna take over our aviation industry" panic.

I thought I read a month ago or so that they moved much of their testing to San Angelo, TX....

San Angelo is my home town and that was where they would do all of their winter testing. It was neat to see it up close, and unfortunate that they've suspended it.

Laying off a couple hundred people is the lever a company uses to get the government off their arse to fund the loan request. They will get the loan funded in the next several months vs waiting a couple years. Smart guys at Diamond.

Too bad there's more to that story than speed. Crunch the numbers on that one and you'll go buy a CJ.

That was exactly my thinking. Get an airframe that's certified and being produced and will be supported for the foreseeable future instead of betting on another Eclipse fiasco.
