For anyone who b##### about the space, remember this thing was designed with input from Mooney (Mooney must have been about 5'2'' and 85lbs wet if I go by how he designed his aircraft). And it's french ;)

I don't like the French.

I especially don't want to give them my money.

But, the salesman told me about "European Delivery" for the TBM. You fly to Paris. Party a couple nights. Take delivery and fly her back to Atlanta. By then, you have about 20 hours time in her. Go to SimCom and finish up your time. Then you're good to go!

No one's fond of the French. But they do know how to make fast airplanes.

If you add up the cost of engine, interior and avionics suite, the amount of money you have to give to the french is not that much (and the swiss are right next to france, not much difference between the two imho).

I actually would throw in a little european vacation with that. Some places that are a hassle to get to otherwise are a breeze in a TBM. You'll have to cough up some for taking the CFI along and landing fees, fuel cost and eurocontrol fees are going to make you weep, but while you have the plane over there and you have to kill some hours, you might as well travel in style.

:bugeye: Looks like most of the depreciation is gone in the first year.

I would actually by a TBM700C-2, get the G1000 retrofit and 'save' 2 million.

Instead of european delivery, one could jus take the plane to europe for a vacation, no need for ferry tanks or anything (probably a good idea to go 'necessary crew only' accross the icy pond).

There's a G1000 retrofit for the TBM 700?

The TBM 850 is about 20 knots faster than the 700 if you want to burn more gas.

Ignore Scott, it's what the ladies think that really counts!! ;) Maybe we should just nominate you for The Batchelor.
Great thread comparing the planes.

Thanks Jeanne. You rescued me. I'll re-think my position regarding "girls being allowed on Beechtalk".

BTW, I remember this being 1992:

There is going to be one pretty soon (for the A+B models, so far not enough interest from the C2 owners). I'll have to dig up where I read that.
Ah, came out at the owners meeting:

I don't think the per-mile operating cost is terribly different. But if you take capital cost and depreciation into the equation, those 20kts are going to be expensive.

Hey! Easy now Russ! :D

They make great Skis & Sunglasses and have great bike races.

It was a French woman who was my first flight instructor - she changed the way I think about the French.

The glass upgrade for the PC12 which isn't a Garmin upgrade is $300K. It blows.

Ok.

One of the advantages of taking european delivery is that you can fly to Brussels, pick up Yves and check out all those places accross europe your mom allways warned you about.

Better ?

Well, it's the factory doing this one. This means:
- it'll be pretty.
- it'll be expensive.

Sounds like a good move to keep the older models attractive.

The later 700s already had the King Efis tubes. Don't know how good/bad those are.
