--paul It's open, just not building new planes. Spares are available, but patience might be required for some things. I got new control surface skins through a service center & factory last year for hail repair. They were ordered weeks before I had a slot for the work to get done, but it all worked out. V-tail owners aren't as lucky, unfortunately.
the KERV factory has some inventory, as do various mooney service centers, and there are a few places like https://lasar.com/ that are making parts, and there's some used inventory around. the factory has recently re-opened its MSC, and owners are supporting the factory by bringing their planes there for service.
The history of Mooney, in various incarnations is spotty at best.
But besides the M20 line (and its less well known M18 and M22 brethren), Mooney also made the Mooney Porsche with a Porsche engine, the US Mitsubishi MU-2, and the TBM turboprop (with Socata).

The Archer is supposed to be the same width as a 172, but SWMBO and I are hip to hip in that plane, which is a pain because the trim is on the floor between the seats. For me, the problem isn't the width, it's the instrument panel stuck in your face and your feet in a tube. It's a claustrophobic person's nightmare (like me). They may be a great airplane, but if I never fly in one again, I'll be a happy camper!

Really enjoyed my mooney acclaim. Was a very comfortable, long legged, and economical cross country machine.

This is an older photo. Well there’s the problem… you have Continental-itis. Your first post said Bravo with Lyc so I was confused.

I had a 98 Bravo for 8 years. Sold it last year. Really enjoyed that plane. Fabulous traveling machine and a real joy to fly.

Love me some Mooney. Great traveling airplane for a couple. Many years ago I spent a few hundred hours instructing in the M20C, J, and a 305 Rocket. Always felt like I was strapping the airplane on. I’m a slim 6’2” and I never felt cramped. I topped off the TBone yesterday and after seeing the bill I momentarily longed for a Mooney again. My mind was right again after tossing the receipt.

That engine picture looks like a different paint job than in post 1. I said it wasn't an engine guy! that photo is someone's acclaim that was in the shop at the same time the photo of my Lycoming TIO-540-AF1B has now replaced it.

I had an 86 252 for about 5 years and close to 500 hours. They aren't hard to land...it's just really easy to screw up the landing with an extra 5 knots airspeed over the numbers. Ask me how I know...... It's also such a clean airplane that it is very, very easy to have that extra 5 knots and requires some advanced planning. I usually reserved my worst landings for when I had a CFII or my wife next to me and a bunch of people watching from the tarmac......all the greasers were alone with no one around. Funny....same thing with how big my fish were.
I never thought it was cramped once you got into the seat but if you have someone in the back loading is an exercise in logistics. It's not easy to get in but I found it a very comfortable traveling machine once I got in. And when I moved to the A36TN I really missed the 9gph at 170 kts mileage equation....even better up high. Also missed the feel when the turbo kicked in on takeoff. Was a solid IFR platform and with the speed brakes could easily make a slam dunk approach.

Good stuff. That parallel valve Lyc with single turbo has an interesting integral Intercooler / Pressure Controller all in one. Neat.
Thanks for showing that.

The Mite is just like the bigger Mooneys right down to the trim system that moves the entire tail, and rubber doughnut trailing link gear. And it flies just like a Mooney, just one with a gross of 850lbs! Once you get past how darn little you are, it flys like any other airplane. Want good gas mileage? Pull it back and you can get 40-50mpg depending on altitude. Here is a picture of mine. Turned out to be the same color and year (‘56) as the T28, and of course 1/20 the fuel burn! Attachment: E3F5163C-BE6B-4E40-B99C-9B7E5A094373.jpeg I had one of those. It was a fun little airplane. I could barely fit in it and operating the Johnson bar gear was a challenge. I had to get rid of it before I got in trouble. I couldn’t resist doing straffing runs with it. Flew great though.

Forcing it on to the ground is a surefire way to bounce. There's more than a few people who like 80 on final and half flaps, and wont (can't) go into anything shorter than 3000ft. I find that steep, full flap, power off approaches to the threshold at 75 indicated will have me off the runway in 1500ft,
