The addition of onboard O2 seems like a nice feature. They haven't offered that on the 182 before, have they? My 1980 Turbo 182RG has factory oxygen. It’s nice to have. It also has a heated prop which also appears to be factory, and there is provision for a windshield hot plate although I don’t have that.

Yes! You need the prop making thrust to get you to one of your outs. A 182 will stay in the air with quite a bit of ice on the wings and tail if there is enough thrust to maintain airspeed.

Like with the recent new Cirrus announcement, I just don't understand the complete lack of innovation.
Why couldn't this plane have a diesel that burns Jet-A? There certainly are enough proven engines around by now that work just fine. Or perhaps retractable gear like we had 40 years ago? Or 6 seats? Or Known Ice?
Or anything, other than some newer avionics (which Cessna didn't come up with) that makes this plane better than a TC RG 1980s version?

Is the 182 full fuel useful load really only 30 lbs more than a 172? That’s almost embarrassing.

The addition of onboard O2 seems like a nice feature. They haven't offered that on the 182 before, have they? All the restart turbo 182s and 206 have built in O2. If your prop is clean, you can climb to get out of the ice. You can add TKS to the plane; not FIKI, but it works fantastically. I have over 1500 hours in the T182T and it will climb around 800-1000 fpm well into the teens (not quite at gross). It's certificated to FL200, but is by no means out of breath there. Roughly, does 150 ktas at 10-12k and 155 ktas at around 14-16k. Makes book figures pretty much to the knot. I have filed on a rainy day from a 1500' private grass strip at gross to a Class B airport. Not too many aircraft can do that. No opinion on the price, but do rue selling mine a decade on!
