Apparently they sold a 1982 and 1989 F-16 earlier this year. They are ITAR compliant, so I wonder if these were turned into parts for partner countries or approved US operators/contractors. I imagine the maintenance bill on a nearly 40 year old F-16 is not cheap!

The 1980 model has a Pratt and not a GE engine, sorry.

I heard an old employer of mine (ATAC) was getting ready to add F-16As to their fleet.
I know they bought numerous F-1 Mirages, but I'd be very surprised if it actually got it's hands on some F-16s.

But any new owner would not be able to jump in the plane and take off, as the secondhand jet is marketed to defense contractors, air service providers that run tests for the Pentagon and allied governments, per The Drive.

The purchaser of the F-16 will be required to comply with the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITARS), which implements the Arms Export Control Act (AECA) and is overseen by the State Department.

Looks like the controller link is no longer up, and Scott's link above goes into more detail.

Pratt's use "Burner"
GE has to be different and calls it "Augmentor"

I was about to pull the trigger on that one, but after some research I learned the ‘82 and later models are really the ones to own so I backed off.
