I found this service very useful. No matter what, it usually turns out to be around 40k/yr average. Years that don’t have 6 year items or a C check are less, when those are due it’s more.
I’ll also second the endorsement of TBMOPA. Lots of good info on the site, and I’ve gotten some very good help on the forums. That's a very interesting data point Dennis. How many hours per year is that budget based on? Is that an all-inclusive # (annuals included)? Are there other TBM owners who could weigh in on whether they feel this is a good budgetary estimate? $200K over a 5 year ownership period for all parts and maint costs? That certainly isn't cheap but isn't out of this world high either.

My working budget compared to my old Mirage is attached if interested. Is holding pretty true for these last 3 years.

The analysis they gave me included a hot section, a 14 yr tail inspection, prop and O2 mask overhaul, some other stuff I don't recall at the moment, and 5 annuals. Another plane I looked had all the maintenance invoices, and it was pretty close to that number. It doesn't of course include any unscheduled maintenance.

I added a couple changes to it to help paint a more complete picture.
1) Changed it to compare the same # of miles travelled for both planes 2) Added a debt service cost to account for the difference in how much $$ you have tied up in the plane. Nicely done.

I wish we had a 'sticky' thread for these spreadsheets, using a 'standard/common data requirement' list. Over time we could see norms and outliers and eventually have very useful real world data, for many GA aircraft.

So how’s does that $40k/yr mx cost compare to the competition? I was always under the impression that TBMs were expensive when it came to annuals.

Your figures are not included in “maintenance”. Check out the spreadsheet above. $66k fixed cost, $137k fixed and variable for 250 hours before debt.

The Malibu (the Continental variant) is the one aircraft that might get me to part with my TAT TN 550 A36.
I took a demo flight in a new M350 and really liked the aircraft. We went up to 21,000’ and explored the aircraft’s capabilities. I was impressed.
While the TSIO-550-C they use in the Malibu might be a bit pricier than overhaul for a TAT TN 550 I’m guessing it’s around $50k.
Regards,
Jim I think the current factory overhaul is right at $49k but I believe it includes all accessories (maybe even the exhaust??).
