I'll either get bored with the Cub or notice I never go anywhere in the Bo. Then I'll sell one of them. Probably 2 years of overlap followed by soul searching.

Stuart, I'm not going to run my mouth as much as I usually do. I'll just cut to the meat. Your best option is to buy a ratty one and have it rebuilt by someone who isn't going to skin you. I know a guy. As for worrying about what you are going to find "while you are in there", don't. There isn't anything in there. It is the simplest of simple airplanes. Rebuild it to basic and it will always sell for most or more than your investment. Don't worry about low usage, like Jeff said, it is the nature of the ownership. The engines seem impervious to corrosion regardless of all the oil additive marketing. Call Corey Boozer in Greenville and see if he can find one for you, then give him a year and let him rebuild it for you. He rebuilt my J3/PA-11 and I won't say for "how little" because everyone would think I got a ratty job. I didn't. PM me for his cell. Jgreen

Agreed with JGG here.
When I was a teenager, I split my time dicking off (not working towards my private) in my family's 1952 Cessna 170B and a 1954 L-21B (135hp Super Cub).
The Cub was ratty. It was a training aid for GTCC and eventually the owner of Air Harbor bought it and spent several months poring over it to get a ferry permit to Air Harbor where he could finish getting it cleaned up. It was the airport rag doll. A bunch of people earned their tailwheel endorsement in that airplane. Eventually, the ratio of duct tape to grade-A cotton was more than could pass muster, and the airplane went into the maintenance shop and all the fabric was ripped off and it sat dormant for the better part of two years. Eventually, Ron decided that he had neither the time nor the interest in finishing the airplane and loaded up the fuselage in the bed of his truck and took it up to southern Virginia to have David Spencer clean it up. Wings and engine made their trips up at a later date.
Several months go by and slowly a beautiful airplane emerges from a small hangar on a dog-legged grass strip in Martinsville, ready to fly again. Every bit as nice as any championship-winning airplane I've seen, and at a fraction of the cost of a "name brand" shop.
I still get a pull on the airplane every now and then, and while it's still fun, it's not AS enjoyable as it was when it was a workhorse and one wasn't worried about keeping it spotless and perfect. I love having showroom examples of things, but I kind of dig the rat plane philosophy in the case of something like a Super Cub.
The 170 will always be my favorite because it means the most to me, but not much compares to a Super Cub. Any taildragger you fly leaves a smile from ear to ear across your face. They're special airplanes and I'm privileged to fly them and now teach in them.

Clearly.....you need your Bo, a Super Cub, and a 170/180/185.
Does your wife have more than 1 pair of shoes? Of Course! Different shoes for different uses.
You need more than 1 plane...different planes for different uses.
(see my tagline....) Hmmm Stan, May I use your justification with my better half? TBM C185 C195 Still lusting after others... Planes that is
