But apparently that is Garmin's position as I understand it. Thank you for the incredibly kind and nice comments Tony! I greatly appreciate it. It was a lot of fun working with you on both deals. Can't wait to hear your report after 25 to 50 hours in the plane. To answer the above question, as I understand it, the previous owner was led to believe by his avionics shop that the G600 RVSM STC would be modified by Garmin to allow for RVSM capability with both G600's and without the AM 250. He even paid approximately $19k for the RVSM unlock card. So if Garmin does ever modify the STC accordingly and if you haven't already installed an AM 250 altimeter then you will be RVSM capable with the current setup. But as you know, Garmin has told me that isn't on the table right now. -Neal

That is a pretty plane.
I love the panel color. my preference has always been light colors on the panel but yours looks great. Is it a dark grey or a flat black?

From what I heard, I dont think Garmin will modify the STC so you better get a AMT 250 if you want RVSM in your TBM. The main advantage is range and weather avoidance by flying RVSM. You gain 4000 ft heading east and 2000 ft west. Username Protected wrote: What is the AMT 250? Who makes it? Google gives zip. It is the RVSM qualified altimeter for the Bendix-King KFC275 flight control system. It has some interfaces to the autopilot computer that are part of the RVSM cert. I expect it would be a big effort for Garmin to recert this.

Garmin certified the single G600 RVSM with the AMT 250 altimeter in the STC. Because there is very small demand for the dual G600, Garmin did not do a different STC.
Here is a pic of the AMT 250.

Tony you will love your ride. I bought a C2 in May of this year. I had no turbine experience.. I did the simcom and then did training in the Tbm. With training I now have logged 110 hours in 5 months. Fly safe and fast. I do miss the bo for short flights but I don't think I can ever go back to a piston engine.

Congratulations, Tony. That's a beautiful 850! The TBM was also on my list during my search for a kerosene burner. Looking forward to your pireps.
