I don't recall any of the particular words for airplane controls, thermals and mountain features being in my university French textbooks...
Patrick, post some pics and tell us about it. I had dinner with John L and his daughter last night and she is getting her Glider Pilot Instructor license and I'm seriously interested in getting my glider rating too........especially since I fly an unreliable trainer glider in the PC12

Going to get mine when I go back to AZ in the fall. Olivia gave me the idea.

It's funny how quickly people pick up the lingo and have it stick. My 13 years old had ridden with me here in the US her whole life and has been talking on the radio since ~8. We spent a couple years in Australia and she took all of 3 glider lessons there. Yesterday on the way home over Missouri at 9K, my 10 year old says "dad there's traffic nearby on the ipad". the older daughter says "No worries, I see him, he's down low flying circuits at Chillicothe"

Insurance is looking for me to have someone current and experienced in the plane with me for the crossing, I had lined up a ferry pilot which was expert on the crossing had done 80+ Atlantic and a bunch other ferry flights but didn't have commander time, my insurer wasn't cool with that, so I'm now looking at lining that up...
I am getting flying withdrawal, though, so am going to try out motorless flight at Fayence which is up the road from my house here. Looking forward to hearing about that, Patrick!

I think I could amuse myself for day upon day just taking it off and landing it there.

Another uber-cool video from Christian in his PC12. Here he loads up the whole plane with girls (this guy is like the Crandall of Europe!), goes from his grass strip direct to a short dirt strip in Sicily. Then on to the beautiful island of Elba. Pretty cool. That's what utility is all about.. Jason - you have the farm already, why not put a dirt strip in?
