I'd be remiss if I didn't pitch the Phenom 100. It has a roomier cabin plus a flushing head. I did a pretty in-depth comparison of the Mustang, Phenom and M2 and found the all-in cost of the Mustang to be pennies cheaper than the Phenom. With the Phenom you gain speed, room, much more comfortable pilot seat (no center column yoke), and a bathroom for those unexpected needs.

Robert: Thanks for starting this thread. My partner and I flew the Mustang several years ago and opted for a C90 instead. A legacy plane that better fit out mission; the capital outlay for a Mustang was just too much for us then. I did need a plane with more seats for some trips and the Mustang couldn't do that; so, I went to the Citation II and V but leased them. It will be interesting to see what y'all think. Appreciate the comments of owners. Sigh, so many choices and I can only really afford one turbine at a time.

ProParts essentially covers the whole airplane, including consumables. Thus far, it's paid for tires, brakes, windshield heat controllers, a door seal, and a few other things. They all need parts, regardless of their age. Paying by the hour has been a good deal for me.

Please educate me more on ProParts. What other maintenance do you pay for outside of ProParts and PowerAdvantage? It seems like a not to exceed fixed fee maintenance program?

I averaged right at $3.00/gal for fuel in the past 12 months. I looked up my total DOC, and it was $783/hr. I knew it was around $800.

$380 for airframe and engine plans.
$270 for fuel, assuming 90 GPH block.

That leaves $133 for everything else.

Does the part plan cover inspection and routine maintenance labor?

If not, I am amazed.

Mustang is not a column yoke. I know some pilots who specifically bought a Mustang over an M2/CJ for that very reason.

I don't understand the column in jets (and some turboprops). Seems awkward to me. The best I can surmise, having a column is some sort of gratuitous indication this is a "serious" airplane.

I never thought of it that way. Until now I would have guessed it was how they wanted to keep a design simple, space efficient and allow for appropriate control feel and mechanical advantage over the control surfaces they are connecting to. I never even thought much about it before.

Now airstairs, that is a serious airplane!

I love the Mustang. So much less moving parts than say a King Air. Maybe not much faster, and can't carry as much... So what about the ADS-B and WAAS solution on the used planes? Has that all been resolved? What year did the start automatically providing this stuff?

Outside of the programs, I pay for labor, mainly the scheduled inspection labor, but also any unscheduled labor. They offer ProTech, which covers labor, but I don't fly enough hours for it to pay off. However, Robert might.

I considered a C90B before I started pursuing a Mustang, but the DOC was much higher. I didn't need a big cabin, and cruising 100kts faster on a comparable fuel flow made the Mustang more attractive to me. Plus, a service ceiling of FL410 is really nice as well.

Proparts is a not to exceed under very limited conditions if you go to the end of your contract and don't renew. Few do that.

If you sell the plane before the end of your contract and have a negative balance then you owe Cessna money.

If you enroll in Proparts study the contract carefully under different scenarios if you have a positive or negative balance.

Also note that you will be paying retail parts prices. Parts are I often available at discounts from other vendors.

That's great for y'all. Glad you found something that really fits and you're happy with.

Your analysis would be interesting to see.

I recommend Cirrus SF50 for this mission. :duck:

Great plane, a friend of mine in CA/FL owns one and loves it. I'm selfish however, I want easiest to manage, maintain fly and the owners have pledged enough capital to buy a mustang so why not... Plus the mustang has that "emergency" lav for when they down a twelve pack on the way home from a game...

I also like the Premier, though they seem to be hot right now and they are trading at prices higher than I am comfortable with.

There aren't very many of them so it doesn't look like anyone publishes regular market reports. What do you think they are worth compared to the current market - asking or selling?

Here is a pdf comparing the Mustang, Eclipse 550, Phenom 100, Citation M2, TBM 850 and Meridian.
