I have a NA 1973 210 and I do 155KTAS at 6500-8500 LOP with TKS leading edge. If you want to go 200kts in a 210, get a new Tornado Alley TN210. They have a nice video of them doing 193KTAS at 17,000 LOP on 14.5 gph, then going ROP 203KTAS at something like 16.5 gph.

Not available for the 210 from Tornado Alley. It is available from Western Skyways and Vitatoe Aviation.

Western Skyways* My mistake. They are the ones with the video.

Our NA 210L has the AA550p engine conversion, 1605UL with 5 seats (plane was weighed) and was running 168TAS, 9000msl, 12.7 gph LOP last week. The ROP climbs up to 1500fpm are wonderful. A36 handles better, has a smaller cabin, UL and CG considerations. Different mission profile. We have 5 in our family. The former owner used the 6 hour LOP range regularly, but doubt I will. Our 210 was the best answer I found without going to a twin. My hangar neighbor has the Vitatoe TN P210 conversion for an entirely different mission. That is the best in class conversion for the P210, unless jumping to the silver eagle, IMHO.

In turbulance, the T210 is a real winner. Very stable and no tail wiggling. I later sold it and bought a V35. I picked up my daughter from an out of town competion and as soon as we got airborne she said " wow, what the heck is going on?"

I own a 1979 T 210 N . UL is 1550 lbs and I cruise 75 % power 27 inches 2400 rpm 19.3 gal / hr and see 180 knots true at 12k and above ! I can carry 5 pax into telluride co and out with no issues and fly 4 hours ! Dont know of any single beech that can do that . Am i correct?

Dont believe in lop. If i felt so strongly about saving on fue, a plane would not be for me ! Planes are meant to fly fast and not meant to be owned by penny pinchers!

If you pinch your pennies, you can own a faster airplane than a slower one where you are wasteful.

I fly LOP. Not to save gas but to save my cylinders.
Well, the gas savings is nice too :D

The T210 is a fine plane. An M-model or newer with the rear gear doors removed will likely have a 140-1600 lb useful, no CG issues, and with Flint tip tanks will have a 1400 mile range. Figure 180 knots at 12k ft burning 15 GPH or so. If you go to 20k it will push 200 knots.

The 2 doors are nice and the short field performance is great. It is nice to look down and not see a wing.

I really liked mine and consider it superior to an A36 for utility, but the A36 is much more solid and better handling. It's all a trade-off.

I love the T210. I flew an T210N model for a charter outfit (with aftermarket intercooler). Given the choice between the T310 and the T210, I'd take the 210 every time. It's also a very passenger friendly 4-place transport. Just an outstanding airplane. ~850lbs usable after full fuel and a 220lb pilot. ATC actually mistook us for a Citation on a west-east FL210 flight. We had to correct them twice.

I've never flown a TAT 36 but if folks here say it's BETTER than a 310hp T210, it must be the pinnacle of piston singles.

As far as "handling" goes, who cares? I've never really been able to tell if a plane handles well or not. It can either do what I need it to do or it can't.

With the center seats out, it makes a great "Bubba" four place.

I'm like that too, most of it is completely lost on me. But if you get a chance go fly a newer 206. One that was made after Cessna restarted the production line. What a god awful miserable airplane to fly.

All true, though you gotta go WAY up to see 200 kts. 1300 UL is low for a T210. Some of them push 1600.

T210 is a pickup truck, Bonanza is a BMW.

They say the same thing about a PA-32. If you need more than two seats and mommas vacation bags, the 210/PA32 is hard to beat.
