Congratulations... looks like a great bird!
I've seen government maintenance go both ways. Glad to see you found one from an entity that had the budget to do it right!

The panther with an updated panel/interior is a very, very nice airplane, especially for trips to the Islands. I'll let you know. I'd guess yes, based on lightweight (no pressure vessel) and 350HP. The wing looks "lifty" too. The nice thing about planes with big useful loads is they don't need to be flown at gross.

Jesse
Congratulations, looks like you found a nice one. A few years back, we had one in the area that flew 3 sets of engines to TBO.. takes a smooth throttle hand and watching the temps. Pretty fair speed at non pressurized altitudes, hauls a big load and does it on reasonable fuel flow for a big airplane. As a side note, will carry ice rather well, too.. If I ever needed more room and load capacity than my 600A Aerostar has, a Navajo would be the first place I'd look. Love the airplane.. The war dept (wife unit) likes them too. Good luck.

Nice airplane!
Who is the female mechanic you spoke of in your initial comments? She does the piston maintenance for the government's air unit. Meticulous...
