I would use it about every flight in the winter months here. $35k is fine if it works and does not need repaired every year.

I don't believe that.

Nobody sane embarks on a certification process, finds out the item was installed wrong, and goes "oh well, guess we can't certify it" and walks away.

You fix the installation and go test it again. Duh.

So I would put a very high likelihood that this "bad installation" story is a cover up that they realized they were not going to meet certification requirements without a major design or concept change.

Mike, the one that everyone refers to failed for those reasons, and investors pulled out and went a different direction, the system was eventually certified for the columbia airframe and is sold on them.

The constant stigma that comes with any of the discussion of the system is usually compared to TKS, and that's the same old tired fiddle they play- that it didn't pass the first certification test

this is all I've learned, and I own and operate a thermawing system, full disclosure

the major downside i see to the system, is that it's expensive- YMMV
