If I can catch a ride home, I'm going to take the Cub over to the rebuild shop today. If not, maybe I can work on the floor. Jgreen Virtual moral support and assistance heading your way!

Well, I got the Cub delivered to Corey Boozer in Scott, Mississippi; about two stones throws from the Mississippi River. I explained that this is a "custom" job, meaning, it will develop as we go. I want it right, not unreasonable, but right. This will be the airplane that my grandson solos one day. Hopefully with me being the one to step out, pat him on the back, and nod for him to go ahead.
A Buddy of mine, that I taught to fly a couple of years ago came over and picked me up in his 172. Getting home, we landed on Rwy 4, touching down in the exact spot that one late summer afternoon, years ago, I stepped out of the Cub and told Grant to solo. He was "young" but flew it perfectly. We had good days together, many in the Cub.

John, I'm getting the strong urge to fly up there just to shoot the breeze. I took the Champ out this morning. Flew with Stan M for a good tuneup. Man, that guy is good, but don't tell him I said so. Once I am able to get in a couple of flights in the new Bonanza, I might bring that one, but I am having a ball in the Champ. It teaches me something on every flight.

Steve Absolutely. It is only a 30 minute flight to Corey's field. I intend to be there about once a week and document everything. Jgreen

Well, the rebuild has begun. I went over Friday to inspect the skeleton and go over what needed to be "fixed" with Corey and his father. Corey is married to my son in law's sister so, her mother, my grandson's other grandma, is making sure Corey is very, very, careful as she knows this is going to be Little Hugh's ride.
As promised, here are pics which I will keep updated. My son, John Jr., who learned to fly in this Cub at age eleven, has chosen traditional Cub Yellow. It will be passed to him so that is appropriate.
