Was the broken trim spring before or after the first flight? I don't recall.

I can ... relieved. Dealing with Peter looks like a real slog.

Yeah, I’m pretty sure that’s a large part of why you always see him working alone.

Is it courageous to do something dangerous when you don't realize the degree of danger there is?

Page 200 here we come... I won't be surprised to see us get to 300 because I don't see this project coming to an end anytime soon. Peter seems intent on dragging it out as long as possible.

I agree it seems like it will keep dragging on.

But what happens when he gets in cruise at 75% power and cant beat Bonanza performance numbers? I feel like that has to be a pivotal point. It will be clear his power plant has major issues and he will need to pull back and make massive design changes. Will his followers believe the next round of optimism? I think his credibility has suffered greatly.

But then I read his YouTube comments and 90% of them are positive and supportive. They seem to still believe the hype. Or maybe they are just impressed with his efforts.

It's really sad to see this is who we have become as a society, a bunch of misguided cheerleaders looking to give trophy's for effort and ignoring results.

Really shows the current state of the world. Feelings are more important than results, science, and reality.

No different than Jerry W's videos. No matter what bonehead move he films and uploads, his followers think he's a god of aviation.

Looks like another flight happened. No video yet.

https://www.youtube.com/c/RaptorAircraft/community

From the picture, this could be the highest it's flown yet.

It looks like the last flight was 1000ft and 136kt max ground speed.

Not the flight that he was looking for with gear up. At this point I don't see how he does not take responsibility for the miss on the performance claims. I think thats my biggest problem with the project, the claims. When does he say OK it's not going to do 300 knots on 20gph?

I'm also watching the Darkaero guys on Youtube. What a contrast to Peter.

The Darkaero is just 2-place, but if it delivers the specs it will be impressive.

To be fair, he never said it would do those things at pattern altitude. And if he did try to achieve max performance (which he expects at FL250) on the 5th test flight he would be ridiculed for it.

It’s not that hard to do the math and figure it out it that an airplane that gets less than 140 knots at pattern altitude, won’t get 300 at FL250. We’d see a lot of 300 knot turbo charged and TN Bonanzas if that were possible under the current laws of physics.

The main caveat being how much power is he really using? In the last video he seemed to be at full power and still accelerating when he pulled the power back at around 133 knots. Maybe if he left the power in longer the speed would have crept up to 200 knots at pattern altitude but I highly doubt it.

Like Matt said, it's a math problem pretty easy to figure out.

If the plane can not do what my 421 can do at 1000agl at 75% power and my 421 only does 230 in the flight levels than how can it do 300 in the flight levels? if it's not faster than a Bonanza at low altitude why would it be way faster at high altitude?

Its not like he came up with some way to change the way a planes perform up high compared to down low.

I dont see him getting better performance than the Velocity. Thats a real problem.

Mike

He's 5 test flights in and hasn't left the pattern yet. His design goal was high speed at high altitude, but that comes with reasonably high speed at low altitude as well. So far it doesn't look faster than a straight-legged 182.
