The collar on mine has split also. I’ve had electrical tape on it. Next attempt will be to slip a length of adhesive heat shrink tubing over the end and shrink it tight. Then trim the end so that the button isn’t obstructed. Idea harvested from another forum. Not my own.

Those pilots in the Jungles of Chiapas are "Bad Hombres"... not a negative term, in aviation speak.
Makes me want to fire up the 'Wagon and Fly South again.
