A call to a Piper dealer and a Google search give me a price between 2.8 and 2.9 for the M600; most of the 100K delta is dealing with radar and paint. Not many other options because the M600 is supposed to come with all options.
While the TBM 930 starts at 4.2 Million with a dealer telling me that it is more likely to come in at 4.5 Million.
That is a rather large delta.
And your comment about the TBM 700, is correct. TBM has moved up market with the 850, 900 and 930. Now Piper is filling the gap with the M600; my question is what will this mean for the market place?

That is kind of interesting. I understand that you can get a pretty stripped down SR22 for under 600K, but they are all coming out optioned around 900K. All the PA46's that I have seen moving have pretty much all the reasonable options installed. People buying new planes don't seem to want the budget models. FWIW. As far as the TBM7 being superior to an M600.... I guess that is in the eye of the beholder. The M600 has superior handling and forgiving flight characteristics, is going to climb and cruise better in icing and IMC since it doesn't have to open the IS which robs the 700 of a great deal of performance, has much superior avionics as well as full envelope protection, has no peculiar low speed handling characteristics, from what I understand very benign stall without the TBM manners of wanting to flip on its back in a power on stall, 2 inch wider cabin, much more refined and modern interior, 5 year spinner to tail airframe and 7 year engine warranty, 50% lower operating costs, simpler user interface.... But yeah, bring back the old TBM700, I don't think Piper would sweat that

Kind if funny when you compare it to how we feel about cars I really like my car, but don't find myself justifying why I like it more than the next guys SUV. also funny how someone would rarely buy a giant SUV with expansive fuel tanks and a horribly inefficient but powerful engine to commute to work when a lesser sedan with more appropriate range, power and a practical number of seats could be had for a fraction of the cost of that giant 12 seat road ripping SUV. Something there, just don't know what it is. I demo'd a Mustang the other day, and it sure looks great on paper, and flies like the fine machine that it is, but not sure I would ever really feel comfortable flying somewhere and getting out of it by myself. Just seems like somewhere in there, is an uncomfortable amount of waste

Now I drive a huge car because the little ones don't have a door as big as an F250. Fortunately, its a diesel with good fuel economy but I really could care less about that. Yeah I get it. Wonder if Santa Monica would be under so much pressure to close if all those giant window shaking jets with one or 2 people onboard minimized their footprint a little better. At least they will allow biofuel and non-leaded avgas there now. The carbon footprint types already are drawing up plans.... I hate windmills Attachment: SMO.jpg

This is an impressive plane which seems much more appealing than its predecessors and the jetprops. I get wanting a new plane but, as the Flight Global article mentions, it is continually a bit shocking to me how little advancement has been made in Turboprops since the 70s... The performance figures for the M600 are not meaningfully different from what I get out of my 1974 690A Turbo Commander. I have a bit more fuel flow, along with a bunch more useful load and cabin space. I'm happy to be out of sync, I suppose, though... Saves me from paying $3mm for a shiny new aircraft which wouldn't carry what I need and would be less useful to me than than my unappreciated old bird.
