Details are on the Air1st website (folks who got the STC for MU-2s). They said it was an 8dB reduction. You can see the article here: http://www.air1st.com/images/MTPropelle ... rop002.pdf

Tell me again why the side facing couch was unpopular?

To be precise, MT owns the STC, and my understanding is that Air1st has some sort of exclusive distribution agreement with MT in exchange for helping with the STC and providing the test airplanes. MT was the STC applicant which was first approved by EASA in Europe before it was granted here in the US. Mike C.

My daughter and dog will fight over who can get it to lay down and sleep and when I'm flying with other pilots, the guy who can't sit up front usually sits in the front couch see because you get a great view of the cockpit since your left shoulder is basically about four inches behind the pilot's seat...much closer than if you were in a forward facing seat with the room for your legs and body in front of you!

I read in an earlier thread about the side couch being uncomfortable and unpopular. My post was really in jest regarding the lady in the old advertising getting awfully cozy with "the boss" while she was somewhat seated on the couch.

Spoken like a true engineer, Mike. Technically speaking correct, entirely missed the point. Reminds me of an old joke:
A engineering student is studying under a tree and another pulls up on a flashy new bike. The first student asks, “Where’d you get that?”
The student on the bike replies, “While I was studying outside, a beautiful girl pulled up on her bike. She took off all her clothes and said, ‘You can have anything you want’.”
The first student responds, “Good choice! Her clothes probably wouldn’t have fit you.”
