After 12 hours, an approach, blowing ice off the boots twice, and some cross countries it was time to check our work.
Today we cut the filter and found zero metal. Unusual but great for a new motor.
We turned down RPM, cranked up MP, lowered oil P, swapped #3 and # 4 injectors, among several other tweaks. I decided to take her up higher to see how she’d do in a sustained climb. 1,000fpm through 15,500 and the hottest cht was 383.
LOP she made 183ktas at 15,500, but still needs tuning. Very smooth and stable performance. The new motor runs like a top.

The 383 was in climb. Without the gamis dialed, the #6 rose to 393 in cruise at 17.2gph based on the video. I still need to tune KFactor and swap some gamis etc. so hard numbers will take awhile. With the new engine install, the plane runs better LOP up high. I'm starting to give up on 190ktas and may have to settle for 185. Baron speed ain't bad considering my 58 with 520s ran out of climb at 13,500 and this was still making nearly 1,000fpm through 15,500'.

You seem to have a real talent for fine tuning an airplane. You should publish a book or start a consulting service. Guys could film their engine monitors in flight and you could tell them how to dial their engines in. Does your Toga' have any of the LoPresti or Knot2U mods?

Very cool! I have a Turbo Lance; not getting anywhere near your numbers. Probably mostly because of the stock cowling. It’s still an amazing family hauling machine.
