No doubt he is slowly emboldening himself to get it into the pattern.

I wish we could start a betting pool as to the day he gets this plane to at least 500 AGL.

He’ll get to 500’ AGL at least once. Hopefully it will be an uneventful landing. $1 bet

I don’t think he’s feeling that brave yet. He’s working up to it.

As to the pattern, you’re probably right, but it’s the last thing he should plan for. The pattern is too busy a time to test a new plane; get it up and over an uninhabited area and explore how it flies, especially at landing speed. Then try landing it. You don’t want to be test flying it at MCA and learning where VS is in the flare.

I think he gleans a lot of satisfaction from many repeated ground effect runs. He's obsessing over little petty things because he doesn't have a plan. Is there a written flight test program for this bird?

For all of his progress thus far, I think he's now far beyond his capacity to take the project further.

If he had an actual plan he would also realize he needs accurate air data. Without accurate airspeed and altitude, then very little of the data he collects will be of any use.

Given how much time he wasted with "high speed taxi" runs, I'd be surprised if he didn't spend the next month or two making short hops above the runway.

EAA has everything needed.
If Peter has done the bare minimum of looking for a structured plan, he should know about this:

In that last video, he said he was planning just a couple more ground effect runs. (Not sure what he's learning from it though.)

Well, he thinks it is accurate once he is off the ground.

With the Raptor, gotta specify which kid and which ankle.

Judging by his last landing, he may not have a couple left in him.

The PIO has he leaves the ground is a bit scary. Hard to call it a landing though when there is no real descent to the runway or flare, just running moderate power at 1' AGL.

I don’t know about that. The power losses I’ve experienced on takeoff happened in the 300 to 400 ft AGL range.
