Andrew I actually looked at joining CJP since my friend flies one and I’m not an owner, nor am I a designated pilot for an owner so I don’t qualify to join. Maybe one day I can spend the $300 to join. I hear it’s beneficial, and it compares to MMOPA.

You can join CJP if you have an interest, but are not an owner or pilot. You can join as a "Non-Owner Member".

How does a CJ with Tamarack winglets compare to the Mustang?
I'm looking at usual trips HPN to Atlanta and Savannah, occasionally Huntsville AL. May have a few trips a year to Naples. I'd like to be able to do these nonstop against winter winds.

I made a trip with my friend in his Mustang recently to just be a second seater when he took some work colleagues back home after meetings and thought I’d share pics.
First pic is showing why we were frustrated coming into Illinois from KADS. ATC slowed and dropped us WAY down when we were still down by Peoria.
Second pic shows our route from KPWK to KADS. I thought it was pretty funny.

Flew from KDSM (Des Monies) to KSDL (KSDL) via the Desrt2 Arrival over Ljayy.
Departed with 2680 lbs...climbed to FL410 in 35 minutes
Trip Distance was 1,024 NM Time was 3:45. 115 knot headwind at first.. ended with 25 knot tail wind.
Landed with 760 lbs.
76gal/hr average.
TAS was 320 knots at 410
Oh yeah...Sigmet for Severe Turbulence Up to FL380. We were smooth at 410. Lots of transport guys complaining about rides. Few could make 410.
Priceless

That's typical. Chicago TRACON is primarily for ORD. I've been on plenty of Southwest flights that were at 6000' when we were still 50 miles from the airport.

Mark, how many pax on board? And are you flying a Mustang still? I figured the P-180 had taken over for you. My friend makes the trip from KPWK to KSDL solo occasionally and he stops for fuel usually in Kansas or Nebraska. I’m still amazed at how well the Mustang does on trips for small groups if you aren’t going from coast to coast.

You got me confused with someone else. Paging Adam. I should add that one of the pax was little (and adorable)

This is a video of the ILS36 at KIXD with my daughter (student pilot) sitting in the right seat. She has about 10 landings in the Mustang. Finds it easier to land than the 172 because of the trailing link gear and its heavier and doesn’t float much. This is her 2nd night landing. First in actual on an ILS. I got it set up on the AP and she took over after we broke out. The idea is to get her to a place where if something happens to me she get can herself and everyone else on the ground safely. Caution...there is some NSFW language after touch down.

Curious, you said a TAS of 320 at fl410. Is that typical up there? Seems slower than I would have though based on other speeds you posted. Is 410 the ceiling or can it go higher? It’s all about ISA. The other day I was seeing 340. But it was -4. Yesterday it was +4. That will do it. ISA makes a huge difference. It will do 355-360:depending on ISA at FL300. But the fuel burn wouldn’t allow we to reach my destination non stop. Certified ceiling is 410.
