Query: Wouldn't it be easier and cheaper to just buy some kind of machine that would randomly slap you in the face during critical phases of flight to distract you? That makes more sense to me. Not nearly as fun though. I am pretty good at ignoring her. Already.

Love the final checks: Three in the green Flaps land Ref +5 Take a sip of your Coke at touchdown. You're right. She has confidence in your landings.

Who does that? Would you take a sip of your beer while your buddy was driving a golf cart? sure...if you want to wear it! Same risk here. Heck one could even lose a tooth depending... Either she trusts me or ignorance is bliss. I will go with trust

Just watched this, and wondering what your thoughts are on the conflicting flight directors. Obviously on the Visual approach... Load, an approach, use OBS and CWS or just kill them? Maybe it doesn't matter. In the Navajo, there is only 1, but I still kill it when it isn't showing good info. Just curious what others think.

SDL has no approaches to load.
Both pilots were busy and focused outside on the visual. If I had time I would have set the HDG bug to RWY HDG which would have leveled the FD. The button to kill the FD is black and in some dark place on the panel and not worth searching for when hand flying at night a visual approach.
Problem with the jurassic jets is they have two independent FD/HSI systems typically fed by independent nav sources. To keep them synced up you need to do twice the work constantly setting both.
In a PL21 Citation the pilot and copilot FD are usually kept in sync and there is one HDG setting for the aircraft. Both sides can be fed by the same nav source or different nav sources.

There was a little trick to clearing the FD on the legacy Citations. I don't remember for sure, but I think you push G/A on the left power lever while pushing the TCS button on the yoke. It made it really easy to do without using any needed brain energy.
