I've had a few airplanes on JSSI and we dropped them in all cases. It was $700 ish an hour for the plan and that's hard to justify.

I have a customer selling his V and it's 900/hour on JSSI.

I will assume this is $450/hr/eng.

For a 3600 hour TBO, this is $1.62M per engine over a TBO cycle, $3.24M for a pair.

You could buy a second airplane entirely, and still have money left over, and have an airplane you can sell or part out, versus being on JSSI.

The market won't give him "0 SMOH" value for his airplane, either, since the next buyer is likely to not keep the JSSI going (unless they are quite close to TBO).

Makes no sense at that price to be on JSSI.

If someone wants a 560 with an engine program, they might as well get an Encore and pay Pratt for the PW535. It bet it is cheaper than JSSI for the JT15D and the PW535 will use less fuel.

Are we sure that $900 doesn’t include their parts program as well?

Chip, I don't have the program particulars.

I got the impression that JSSI does engines and APUs only - but that's only an impression

It’s already sold. 5200 hrs, midtime engines, fresh hots. It’s a very unique Airplane with an almost new Interior. It’s going to a beechtalk guy and I’ll let him introduce himself when the time is right . I’m very proud of this Airplane. It’s just a squawk free great machine.! all of these airplanes have different personalities and this is a happy one.

How many others aren't "happy"?

Question for Tarver -

in our TBM850, we had the "elite" interior, which allowed easy reconfiguration (and removal) of seats. I frequently took 2 seats out and we saw increased performance.

Is there an easy way to remove seats from the 501 (for example, 90% of the time I only need a 4-seat airplane), or would it not make a noticeable difference in performance?

I'm not Tarver but I bought a plane from him....

I have the Sierra interior. Aft lav and club seats removed and replaced with a 3-person bench, 2-person divan (couch) across from the door (with potty), rear facing club seats as stock. This configuration gives a lot more leg room for the passengers.

But to answer your question, the 2 rear-facing club seats can be removed very easily - just lift the pin and slide rearward and up off of the track. I remove the left side (closest to the door) fairly often if I need to carry larger stuff - just makes it easer to get stuff in and out. The rest of the seats are bolted in.

That being said, I don't see it making much difference in performance. I just ran the numbers on an 800nm flight and it saved 7lbs of fuel, or 1 gallon, no change in flight time as the average TAS change by 1 knot.

501 seats feel like they weigh about 25 pounds each so I don’t think it would change too much.

Gary, were you removing the middle row? I’m thinking the performance change may have been from shifting the CG aft.
