My guess is that SpaceX will get the two and bring them back.

One source reports that the spacesuits used for Starliner crews are incompatible with Dragon and Soyuz. Comms? Life support? Telemetry?

I heard that too, no details and not surprising. If they come back on Dragon SpaceX will need to send up suits for them, but not having flown them before I imagine that fitting them is one of the challenges they’re discussing.

Wasn't there some issue about not having a docking port for Spacex while Starliner is docked? That seems like a simple problem to me, BWTFDIK?

NASA Will Decide Saturday If Boeing’s New Capsule Is Safe Enough to Fly 2 Astronauts Back From Space
Quote:
CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla.—NASA said Thursday it will decide this weekend whether Boeing’s new capsule is safe enough to return two astronauts from the International Space Station, where they’ve been waiting since June.
Administrator Bill Nelson and other top officials will meet on Saturday. An announcement is expected from Houston once the meeting ends.
Any bets?

I'll bet the Space Station gets renamed "Hotel California." You can check out, but you can never leave. :D

If that Tesla is still floating around in space, they might be better off taking that back home. :D

The problem is that Starliner is clamped onto the ISS like a remora and the current software won't allow it to let go without somebody being in it to push the "let go" button. IIRC there is one other docking port that works with US spacecraft, and it is occupied by the Crew 8 Dragon. There are a couple of creative options, but there's something unattractive in each.

I'm sure the Starliner crew was comped with free lodging and a free round trip flight on another Starliner.

I was thinking about the upcoming space-x flight. If they decide to go with empty seats to bring those 2 home, they will have to make a gate announcement "Ladies and Gentleman I'm afraid we have an over-sold situation on today's flight..."

I wonder if the ISS crews wake-up to whatever music CAPCOM decides to play?

Believe it or not, there is someone on the forum (not super active) that knows the definitive answer to that. It’s amazing how many awesome people own a Beechcraft!
