Rumour is its coming.
Be a G1000NXi not a G3000
I’m surprised more people don’t buy new C90GTx’s and install Garmin, those Fusion screens are expensive, it couldn’t cost much to convert it.

What can someone fetch for their used Fusion stuff after removal? After hearing about the cost of one Fusion screen, you'd think a shop would make a straight trade for Fusion removal and G1000 install

Here's the answer... can't be done.
When RC went to the Fusion panel they incorporated much (if not all) of the annunciation panels, warning lights, etc. into the Fusion screens, so you cannot install G1000 in it's place.
I can also squash the rumor that the King Air will come with a Garmin panel in the future... it won't.

Would be financial madness to pull out the Fusion on a brand new plane & replace with Garmin. Whether you upgrade PL21 to Fusion or pull a PL21 and replace with Garmin, looking at $350k. Also for the C90, the NXi upgrade is not yet available. The only Garmin retrofit option for the C90 is the G1000. Can a Garmin retro in a KA make a lot of sense if you pull out a PL21? Yeh. But NXi not yet avail for C90. Is it a smart financial move to pull a brand new Fusion and replace with Garmin? Not so sure.

Textron Service Centers install G1000... have for years... they also install G5000 in the Beechjet...
Has nothing to do with the production airplanes.
According to Garmin, it isn't happening and Collins integrated a lot of the cockpit systems into the Fusion to make the Garmin upgrade impossible.
I've mentioned this before, Collins has contracts in place to keep their panels in production aircraft, it isn't talked about... but it is obvious, no manufacturer is going to commit to supplying X number of avionic sets without a commitment.
I do believe this is why the M2 is called an M2 and not a CJ.

A couple of weeks ago I had an opportunity to fly a C90A full motion sim with G1000 avionics. What a wonderful update from electro-mechanical display technology!
If one is looking at what can be done to clean up a King Air, the answer is... LOTS. The nacelle/wing intersection is a flow disaster. Flows around the empennage are far, far from ideal. The windshield flow is awful. Elevator/horizontal span-wise flow sucks energy. Having seen some tuft testing on the airframe I would have to believe that a major clean-up would result in a substantial increase in cruise performance. Unfortunately the execution of that clean-up would likely invalidate the existing Type Certificate.
BTW I was involved in one of the earliest chicken gun certification tests not on the King Air but on the B1900. First chicken was aimed at the windshield centre pillar. It ended up back in the lav. Spectacular fail! Interesting times indeed...
