I recommend that whichever you do first, sim or plane, do the other in about 6 months. I also recommend do crew first, then at 6 months do single pilot. If anybody finds a fast sim school, let me know. Mike C.

Thanks Mike. That seems to be the best plan. I really would like to find a 4-5 day sim course as well just to be able to practice V1 cuts, single engine low IFR approaches, etc.

As for low IFR approaches, if you come to AZ Type Ratings there are days where FLG is 200 and 1/2 in blowing snow when PHX is clear.

Personally I recommend getting a CFI that’s typed in your plane to fly with you for a couple trips. Showing up to training already knowing how to fly the plane is huge.
If you went to Loft for initial you would not be ready to fly your plane. The panel and system are totally different and the sim does not really prepare you to understand the 501. At least that was my experience.
I think in plane with a 501 expert is the best way to do initial.
Mike. Couldn't agree more. I was very comfortable in my AC when I showed up for the ride. Az Type Ratings was a great school for me. Being forced into "bad" airmanship (behind the airplane, too slow, configured wrong) was invaluable experience.

Hi guys! I have some exciting news to share. As many of you know, I own a 501 and have a maintenance shop dedicated to legacy citations. I have been working hard to build a team so we can provide exceptional service to aircraft and their owners. I know how important these aircraft are to us. I am happy to announce that we are now open 7 days a week 12 hours per day! We are committed to getting your airplane done right and on schedule. We have expertise in phase inspections, structural repairs, air conditioning, hydraulic systems, airframe and engine maintenance, aircraft painting, fuel leak repairs, landing gear, and electrical/wiring/avionics. We have the knowledge to actually troubleshoot and fix problems on these amazing jets. Our mission is to elevate your maintenance. We do this by communicating throughout the process and keeping you updated daily. We never, ever markup parts and we offer 100% transparency on pricing. Our focus is on delivering exceptional quality and doing the job right the first time. Furthermore, we have the resources to get your maintenance completed on schedule. Every airplane that visits us is cared for like it is our own. That means seats and interiors are covered and protected. Shoes are covered inside aircraft and gloves are worn at all times. Our hangar is air conditioned and squeaky clean, which keeps everyone – including jets – happy! http://www.CitationMaintenance.com

Took delivery of my very first jet! What an incredible machine! So grateful for this community and the information it provides! Flying it for the first time tomorrow with an instructor before starting the type rating Tuesday. I have a feeling I’m in for a wild ride.
